Monday Morning Motivation

My favorite shirt, it's soft and fits well and I love the saying. I threw this on Friday after training with Roy and stopped at the store.

The old, very proper, very conservative  woman helping me looks over the top of her glasses and reads my shirt out loud, then looks at me, then said "hmmmph" and went on ringing me up.

Monday, hello!

“Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”

  1. i love your blog, read it every morning. i used to lift really hard until a bad case of spinal meningitis nearly took my life. needless to say i was in the hospital for quite a while among being diagnosed hypothyroid... anyway, all that aside, i must say u inspire me daily and i love ur attitude bout life, especially during ur rib accident. i admire u alot. was also wondering what ur opinion is on whey protein drinks? its hard to get 150grams of protein in daily so i often supplement with a whey shake. ur thoughts? thank you for creating this blog, for your posative example to us all that we can and will achieve our health/fitness goals!! :)

  3. Hi Danielle,

Thanks for the comments, I love to hear that people enjoy reading my blog! How odd, I had meningitis too, but it was viral and didn't require hospitalization, but I remember having a headache for 26 days straight! It must have been horrible for you.

I eat just about that much protein in a day, maybe slightly less and it's not difficult for me, but I am always hungry and I love to eat meat and egg whites.

Whey is fantastic, I have a shake every morning, its tough to get up early, eat a big meal then lift. I need about an hour and a half to digest, so a shake is what I have.

It is great to use them to supplement as long as they don't replace a regular meal. Whole food requires the body to digest it, so it slowly empties into the system, plus you have the thermic effect so it requires calories just to process. A whey drink gives you the needed protein, but it is pretty much pre-digested, so it shoots into the system fast and doesn't require calories to process it.

I would try not to have more than one a day, and pay for a good whey, you get what you pay for, so you need to find one that has a flavor you like, then it s a good product, there are lots just keep in mind if its really cheap, there is a reason.

I alternate between Natures Best IsoPure and Nutrition 53 Lean 1, their chocolate is fantastic!

My new trainer uses a why that is made from grass fed cows, I thought I might give that a try!

    Good luck to you!
